gettin' serious

Yesterday a friend shared this video 'Processed Life' on facebook, and it was so wholly relevant, I'm passing it on. There's something really difficult about treading the line between omnivorous consumer and compassionate fellow animal. I'm an omnivore, and I probably don't always eat free range meat, but man, when you see stuff like this you really question whether we've gone too far. The end is a bit controversial, but hey, food for thought (!!).

Also, on the way home from rehearsal I bought a bag of apricots and a potato sourdough, so am feeling a little bit virtuous. Happy Tuesday!

the best concert ever

i went to see mount eerie perform last night at the wine cellar. it was seriously the best concert i've seen. the wine cellar as a venue is always great. sitting on a couch a few metres away from Phil Elverum is pretty magical. also Sarah Mary Chadwick a singer from new zealand performed before him and she was jaw-droppingly incredible. the whole concert i felt on the edge of tears / peaking with sombre happiness. Phil Elverum is the best. He had really funny banter too. Oh, also Florian Habicht was in the audience.

maybe not related to GORGE but i dunno. it just made me think about live performance and how moving it can be. that shared experience that exists only in that precise moment.

blurgh..

in other news, i think i may have sprained my wrist in rehearsal yesterday.

this morning, i am painting a pig

death row

hello. i've just been reading this article about an artist called Julia Ziegler-Haynes who studied the public records of prison inmates on death row and their requests for their "final meal" before execution. She's recreated some of the meals and has information about the inmates. Pretty chilling. Pretty surreal. WHat would your final meal be if you were given a life sentence? You can read the article HERE
