this morning, i am painting a pig

death row

hello. i've just been reading this article about an artist called Julia Ziegler-Haynes who studied the public records of prison inmates on death row and their requests for their "final meal" before execution. She's recreated some of the meals and has information about the inmates. Pretty chilling. Pretty surreal. WHat would your final meal be if you were given a life sentence? You can read the article HERE

PEOPLE INVOLVED IN SHOW

VIRGINIA FRANKOVICH

Virginia Frankovich is a graduate of iconic physical theatre director, John Bolton’s Theatre School and recently performed in Auckland Theatre Company's production of BLACK CONFETTI. In 2012 she was nominated for the Outstanding Performer award at the New Zealand Fringe Festival, for her performance in two different, critically acclaimed productions, Honey (Joseph Harper) and Confessions (Benjamin Henson), the former of which won Virginia and company the Best Newcomer award. In 2011 she also earned her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in theatre/film studies and psychology from the University of Auckland.

PHOEBE MASON

Although currently masquerading as a law student at the University of Auckland, Phoebe Mason is a creative at heart. That said, she'd like to point out that the two are not mutually exclusive, and in fact attract remarkably similar personalities.
Phoebe enjoyed her macabre role in 'Confessions' in the Wellington Fringe 2012 so much she jumped at the chance to be involved again. Prior to Fringe, Phoebe has appeared in 'Beyond the Blue' with Red Leap, 'Twelfth Night' with Breaking Legs and was a member of the Young Shakespeare Company 2009, among other roles extending back to the ripe old age of 7.

LISA FOTHERGILL

Lisa has always had a keen interest in storytelling since a young age. She flourished in drama and media studies at high school, and went on to graduate from AUT in 2010 with a Bachelor of Communications Studies. From then it was only natural for Lisa to submerge herself into every creative crevasse she could find; filming, editing, photography, costuming, acting, producing – you name it. In her spare time she visits the zoo, knits, and drinks copious amounts of tea.

BENJAMIN HENSON

Benjamin trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, while directing productions for the London fringe and cabaret circuit. Assisting credits include work for the BAC on Brecht's The Threepenny Opera and with the Brazilian theatre company Dende Collective at the Lyric, Hammersmith with physical theatre practitioner, Andre Pink. Having directed productions in Germany and France, Ben has recently moved to Auckland to continue his directing career. Benjamin’s NZ credits include a sell-out production of The Turn of The Screw, Auckland Fringe 2011; Death By Cheerleader, Basement + Bats 2011; Donkey Skin, Short&Sweet 2011 and Confessions, an NZ Fringe award winning production in Wellington this year. He assisted Jackie Van Beek on the Young&Hungry season of Tigerplay whilst teaching for the ATC and TAPAC, and has worked on the ATC’s Next Stage seasons under Raymond Hawthorne and Sara Brodie. Ben is currently directing for the acting students at Unitec.
